General Note
The plates carry no plate-numbers, but three carry the numbers of the pages next to which they are to be bound (viz. 26, 45, 146). The folding plates are [11-15, 17].
The frontispiece is signed 'J. v K. 1809'. Most plates are signed as painted by Raphael (plate [8] is signed as painted by Raphael and drawn by Rensch, and pl. [11] is signed as drawn by Ander?), and as engraved by G.J.A. (or J.G.A.) Frenzel, H.C. Müller, Rosmäsler, Rosmäsler directed by Pr. Mathäi, or Fleischmann.
Plates [3] and [6] carry the publisher's imprint, 'Dresden bei P.G. Hi(l)scher' and the heading 'Beilage zu der Zeitschrift Merkur (für 1822)'.
Summary Note
The publication-date of 1827 is carried by the title-page. Plates [3, 5, 8] carry the date 1822; pl. [9], 1821; the frontispiece, 1809.
The frontispiece shows a portrait of Raphael. The other plates show paintings by him - apart from pl. [11, 12], which show his villa. Seven are fully engraved, the rest are outline drawings.

The front loose endpaper is inscribed in ink, 'Bequest of Sr. A.W. Callcott'.

An additional plate has been inserted loosely between pages 168 and 169, captioned 'Vierge Aux Candelabres' and carrying the imprint 'A Paris chez Fr. Janet ...' (n.d.).
