Summary Note
This detailed descriptive catalogue lists the publications of the Arundel Society by year, from the first year (1849-50) to the twenty-second (1870). In his Preface Maynard states, 'The work is published under the sanction and with the approval of the Council; but the author alone is responsible for the facts and opinions stated in it'. Most of the works listed are reproductions of Italian Renaissance paintings, but the list includes casts and literary works.
The frontispiece (a pasted-in photograph) shows 'The Ecstacy Of St. Catherine. A Fresco By Bazzi At Siena'.
The Arundel Society ceased to function in 1897.
Copy Note
The front pastedown and a preliminary leaf carry labels of the Gloucestershire County Library. On the verso of the half-title are pasted two newspaper advertisements for Arundel Society publications. The text carries brief annotations in pencil throughout.
Binding Note
19th-century brown cloth-covered boards; upper cover lettered 'Descriptive Notice Of The Drawings & Publications Of The Arundel Society', spine lettered 'The Arundel Society'.
