$a The Mansion House at Doncaster was Paine's first big commission (1745-1748), and was designed to act both as a banqueting-house and a family residence. Its interior decoration was also designed by Paine. During the 1750s and 1760s Paine became, with Robert Taylor, one of the chief practising architects in Britain. The plates show plans, exterior elevations, sections, and interior views. |
