Copy Note
On the front free endpaper is pasted an extract from a bookseller's printed catalogue (item 398 of p.24), probably referring to this copy, describing it as 'Very scarce, and sold for 175 francs in Marquis de Morante's sale.' A small sheet of paper has been loosely inserted, on which is written by an unidentified hand, 'Sold for 175 Frs. Lot 446 Marquis de Morantes Sale Paris Feby. 1872. "Livre rare et recherché ... les exemplaires bien conservés sont fort rares."'. The verso of the front free endpaper is inscribed in pencil, 'Very fine copy Maltbys Sale 185 with Jost Amman's woodcuts ...'
