Summary Note

The work was published serially. The Table Méthodique Des Planches begins with the note, 'Avis. - Les Monuments de l'Art antique ont été publié en six livraisons, de novembre 1881 à novembre 1883 ...'.

The plates are heliogravures (photogravures) of ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman statues, of bronze, stone and terracotta, most of them in public collections.

Provenance

Parts 1-3 (forming vol. I) were purchased for the Royal Academy's Library in 1882 (see RA Annual Report for 1882, p. 45).
