$a Some copies have bound in the paper cover of this cuaderno, of which the title reads, 'Monumentos Arquitectónicos De España. Publicados de Rl. Orden y por disposicion del Ministerio de Fomento. Cuaderno No.' The titles are in Spanish; the text is in Spanish and French in parallel. The text describes the fourteenth-century Casa de Mesa in Toledo, a large reception-hall in Arabesque 'Mudéjar' style. This style continued in use in Spain into the sixteenth century. In the nineteenth century the style was revived - generally being called 'Mudejar Revival' in Spain and 'Moorish Revival' elsewhere. The three plates show 'Detalles Del Salon De La Casa Llamada De Mesa (Toledo)'. In-text illustrations consist of a title-page vignette, head-piece ('Ajimez') and decorated initial. The decorated initial is printed in color. |
