This book of plates was accompanied by a separate descriptive text, published in the same year, entitled Monumenti inediti a illustrazione della Storia degli antichi popoli Italiani dichiarati da Giuseppe Micali.
The plates are outline engravings of vases, sculptures and other antiquities, showing mythological, social or sporting subjects. Ten plates are hand-coloured (pl. 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 36, 40, 42, 49, 58).
