Summary Note
A variant title is given on the added engraved title-plate: 'Nouvelles Fontaines Érigées A Paris, de l'ordre et par la munificence de Napoléon le Grand. On y a Joint toutes celles Existantes antérieurement à Son Règne, avec des notes intéressantes Sur la date et l'Origine de leur Erection An 1812.'
The plates are captioned. The names engraved bottom left and right of the plates are usually those of the designers, restorers or sculptors of the fountains, rather than those of draughtsman or engraver. Ten mention Bralle, who as Chief Engineer of the Paris Service des Eaux had been entrusted with executing the decree of 1806 calling for fifteen new fountains. Others mention Fortin, Bouchardon, Levallois (Vallois), Percier, Beauvallet, R. de Cotte, Coustou Jne., Gondouint, Y.
