Summary Note

The work describes the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome. The church was originally built in basilica form in the fourth or fifth century, but now incorporates later transepts, and the façades designed by Fuga in the eighteenth century.

The plates are outline drawings showing views, architectural details, mosaics, sculpture and paintings.
