The work consists of 60 plates, each accompanied by a leaf of descriptive letterpress printed in English recto and French verso, as well as 4 plans. Two other plates are listed in the [list of] 'Plates' - the engraved title-plate and the concluding vignette. The plate of Amiens Cathedral is incorrectly bound out of order, not preceding its letterpress description.

Binding Note

19th-century calf, upper and lower covers having blind- and gilt- stamped borders; rebacked in 20th century, gilt-decorated spine, lettered 'Batty's French Scenery' and 'R.A.'
