This portfolio comprises 100 plates of drawings of medieval and renaissance architecture in Italy by the members of the Académie de France in Rome. The plates are preceded by a preface and the Table Explicative des Planches [list and description of the plates] prepared by Georges Daumet.
A later, second volume, appeared in 1925 published by C. Massin et Cie, long after this portfolio had been presented as a prize in 1910 to Hubert Worthington (later Sir Hubert Worthington R.A.).
Provenance
The front pastedown carries a bookplate from the Manchester Society of Architects with inscriptions:' Seniors First Prize. / Mr Ogen's Prize For / Design for a Country House / Presented To / Mr Hubert Worthington / Percy S. Worthington / President / March 1910.'
The front pastedown also carries an owner's label printed 'Ex Libris / Hubert & Joan / Worthington'.
Binding Note
The portfolio is covered in a red cloth with the front board and spine both lettered 'Fragments D'Architecture De La Renaissance'.
