The text describes, and the plates (captioned in French and Dutch) show, the lying-in-state in 1759 of Anne, Princess Royal and Princess of Orange (daughter of King George II of Great Britain). The title-page vignette (printed on both title-pages) shows her royal arms.

The front loose endpaper is inscribed 'S.A.H', i.e. S.A. Hart, librarian of the Royal Academy 1864-81.
