Most plates show portraits of artists; but in Volume I the unlettered plate at p.104 shows classical antiquities, and that at p.258 is an unusual rendering of the Meeting at Emmaus, and in Volume II the unlettered plate at p.65 shows bas-reliefs, that at p.176 shows Jupiter and Semele, and that at p.182 shows classical portrait-medallions. |
