$a Guarini had prepared the manuscript and the plates for this work before his death in 1683; but it was three years later that the plates were published at Turin, without text, under the title, Dissegni d'architettura civile et ecclesiastica. The owners of the text and plates, the Theatine Order, commissioned Bernardo Vittone to prepare the present edition. Parts 2, 4 and 5 are reprinted from Guarini's Euclides adauctus (1671). Thirty-five new illustrations have been included. The plates show geometric figures, architectural details, and plans, elevations and sections of buildings. |
