Besides adding all the new exhibitors of the last thirteen years, I have, through the whole range of the present work, made many improvements which were suggested by the use of the first version. By the introduction of the two great water-colour societies, the record of artists in the medium is now complete; the Portland Gallery brings Rossetti into view and the “Associated Artists” includes many early English water-colour painters who did not join the Old Society. The Dudley “Black and White” introduces many engravers and etchers who are celebrated in those interesting branches of design.
