Hosmer asks Gibson to inform
Lady Eastlake that she accepted her invitation to visit England the following summer. The letter contains [light hearted] banter about her matrimonial prospects with men such as
[Penry] Williams and
[William] Boxall. Hosmer had received a letter from
[Charlotte] Cushman saying that she would be in Rome on 1 October: "[s]o I shall not be an old bachelor this winter." The chief attraction at Antignano was bathing, though Hosmer believed that Gibson did not care for that.
