Content Description

He makes assurances that they will not leave Jamaica until his fortune is made. Discusses prospects of trade with America and the impact of tax on the sugar planters, he hopes Lord North will reverse the tax decision now he is back in play. If everything goes favourably he hopes to settle a new estate. Sally has sent him kegs of goods by a brig, including one of Cassada [Cassava]. He asks for celery and cabbage seed as he has failed to cultivate them on the island, he suggests obtaining the assistance of Mr. East, a friend of his at Kew.

At foot of letter Chambers has made pencil notes relating to building work.
