ROYAL ACADEMY OF ARTS.
VISITOR’S REPORT.
Drawing SCHOOL.

THE VISITOR for the time being is MASTER of the SCHOOL. His duty is to
set the Models, to examine and correct the performances of the Students, to give
them Advice and Instruction, and to maintain due Order and Discipline.

NAME OF VISITOR Sir Luke Fildes RA.
PERIOD OF DUTY From Jan 6.th To Jan 31.st 1908

SUGGESTIONS AND REMARKS.
Instruction
Male models were posed in the male school
for the first fortnight and female models for the
second fortnight. One night of each fort
night was devoted a drapery study in both Schools

Discipline
Excellent.

General
The attendance in the male school was disappoint-
-ingly small _ probably not averaging more than 4 or 5 students.
One night there were as few as two _ This is an extraordinary change from
what it used to be. If this month’s attendance is typical, the male
class of the RA Schools is practically useless. and until
other measures are adopted, I would suggest that the large
class room be given for the use of the female students who are
at present much restricted for space. The female school is well
attended. the class room being quite filled.

The female students work is of a fair average. Of the
males it is scarsely necessary to speak being practically
non-existent _ Luke Fildes. 14 Feb 1809.
