This series provides an inclusive set of full accounts for the Royal Academy from 1841-1964 and 1970-77. They were the audited account books of each Treasurer during the period. The series consists of itemised quarterly expenditure [abstracts of bills] and annual balance sheets [general statements], 1841-1902, and itemised quarterly expenditure and quarterly balance sheets after 1903. The volumes are entitled "Treasurer's quarterly statements" after 1898. The series is signed by the [internal] Auditors and following the RA's decision to appoint an external auditor in 1911, by Price Waterhouse (until 1951). The accounts are also frequently signed by the Treasurer himself.
