Pasted to the rear are several newspaper cuttings.
Firstly, an anonymous squib on the recent Academy activities of
Sir William Chambers, suggesting he acts with a high hand towards his fellow Academicians.
Secondly a brief notice of the exhibition of 1789, declaring it poorer than the year before.
Thirdly a brief paragraph revealing that
Mr. Marlow desires to be a member fo the Academy.
Fourthly an account of the Annual Dinner of 1789, noticing the major guests, and that
[Richard] Cosway was the only guest to sport a "bag
and Sword". A tone is scurrilousness is maintained in an account of a dispute between Cosway and
[Ozias] Humphry.
