He has had a busy social schedule, having with dined consecutively with
Lady Crewe, Mr Paytherus,
Angerstein and, tomorrow,
Westall; he declined an invitation from
Lady Hood to dine with her and
Walter Scott; yesterday
Lord Lonsdale sat to him, and spoke highly of Farington; he has an unfinished painting of
Mrs. Carter, esteemed by some as a kind of
Johnson; he suggests
Cadell and Davies would welcome such an image, but he wants it drawn by
Mr. Evans; he bemoans the quality of portraits in a new imprint by the publishers, in future the choice of artists should be left up to Farington,
Smirke or Lawrence.
