He asks that Mr. Camuccini be told that he is very happy with the placing of his portrait of His Majesty, but asks that the room be re-painted if they think this required; he is glad that Eastlake has been commissioned to paint for the Duke of Devonshire, who is only known to like sculpture, he will push for the public exhibition of Eastlake's work; Hilton and Phillips (who he knows Eastlake welcomed in Rome) are well, Hilton has finished an admirable Crucifiction, Phillips prepares his [Academy] lectures and has painted a portrait of Lord Stowell; he asks how Mr. Lane progresses; Mr. Gott has sent a terracotto, he thinks Gott a genius but makes mild criticisms.
