He is unable to undertake a second portrait; he returns her note, saying that the unifinished portrait is her's to dispose of, not his; he desires that if the picture is to be given to Miss Locker then she sit one more time as he wishes to work on the upper part of the face and hair; he wishes for an assurance that Miss Locker always mention it as unfinished and, in his opinion, flawed.
