He is detained in Rome as all wish him to completely finish his pictures for them to see; next week he sets out to Florence and then Venice on his return home; he will miss the welcome of Lysons; speaks of events in Manchester [Peterloo], Paisley and Glasgow; Mr. Turner has arrived and is worthy of the city, he has made clear his admiration of Wilson and is pleased to "see" him around the Campagnia; Canova has just finished two models, of Endymion and a Magdalen; he speaks of Nicolo Poussin, Gaspar, Claude and Wilson working in the areas around Rome; he mentions that Callcott bears Turner no grudge, such is his his superiority, something which cannot be said for portrait painters; he asks to be remembered to West, Owen, Thomson; Turner says Fuseli is well, speaks further of Fuseli.
