Inspectors had been appointed in 1810 to make biannual surveys of the RA's books and casts.
Four Academicians were elected annually from 1871 to serve as Inspectors of Property. Their task from to inspect all major spaces within the Academy and correllate its contents with inventories. These inventories covered the Collection, Library and Plate.
With the institution of the post of surveyor a new report appears, treating with the fabric of the Academy's estate.
Content Description
Reports dating from 1872 to 1950, at which point it is hoped that they survive in the sequence of Secretary's Council papers (RAA/PC/14). A late survival from the office of Piers Rodgers provides reports from the 1990s.
