NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS

ALL Works of Painting, Sculpture, or Architecture, intended for
the Annual Exhibition at the Royal Academy, must be punctually
sent there on one of the Days announced in the Public Papers for their
reception.
They must be addressed to the Secretary, and accompanied with a
note, describing them as they are meant to be inserted in the Catalogue,
(no Advertisement, “unnecessary” quotation, or narrative, can be admit-
ted). At the back of each Frame must be written the Name of the
Artist, and the Number (if there are more than one) to which it refers
in his list: particular accuracy is requested in this respect.
The Frames of Miniatures must in no case exceed two inches and
a half in width and one in depth; and those whose greatest dimen-
sions is six inches, can not be allowed more than two inches in width
and one in depth.
No Works which have already been publicly exhibited, can be
received. No Copies of any kind are admissible, excepting only
Paintings in Enamel, and Impressions from unpublished Medals; in
which cases, the name of the original Designer must be specified.
No Artist is allowed to exhibit more than Eight different Works,
whether Paintings, Drawings, or Works of Sculpture.
Each Picture, or Drawing, must be in a separate frame; or, if a
Series of Designs from one Story be at any time admitted in the same
Frame, they must be enumerated as distinct pieces.
All Works sent to the Royal Academy for Exhibition, are submitted
to the approval or rejection of the Council, whose decision is final, and
may be ascertained by application to the Academy, in the week after
they have been left there.
The Porters of the Academy are instructed, not to receive any Works
that obviously vary from the above Regulations.

but the Royal Academy cannot hold itself responsible for any injury
which they may accidentally receive.
