Content Description
Notes on the mixing and use of oil paints and vehicles, the basis of the "Venetian Secret", together with a signed agreement for the use of such a recipe book.
Provenance
Internal evidence strongly suggests that these manuscripts were compiled and retained by Joseph Farington. The sale catalogue for the library of Sir Thomas Lawrence also contains lots for the Process and its associated signed agreement, evidence that the document passed into Lawrence's hands after Farington's death.
