Content Description

Explaining that when he went to Italy in 1773 he was not indulging a whim. He had long desired to extend his professional studies. In 1772 he had a fall from a horse from which he never fully recovered, and this determined him to visit Italy. He went to India in the hopes of making a fortune, but unforeseen circumstances frustrated his intentions. He is now almost blind and very infirm.
