Content Description
Orpen confirms that his painting [Le Chef de L'Hotel Chatham, Paris] was not all painted in England. He presumes that that puts the Chantrey sale off. He wishes the Diploma Committee could decide soon. He asks Lamb to put the price of the picture up to £1,500 - he has had offers up to that amount. The letter includes a sketch by Orpen of himself with a lamb [representing the Secretary, Walter Lamb] perched on his head. The letter ends: "Yours with Lamkin on the brain, Orps."
