Notices posted up at the RA exhibition for signature by exhibitors wishing to offer themselves as candidates for Associateship for the years 1811-13; 1815-20; 1822-24; 1827-30 and 1843. The first list, for the year 1811, includes the signature of
John Constable. Candidates were not to be under 24 years of age, nor members of any other society of artists established in London, and had to indicate their profession: painter, sculptor or architect. The notice was to stand for one month only.
