The notes, which appear to have been prepared by Lamb for his successor as Secretary,
Humphrey Brooke, record the destruction of the portrait by
Sir Frank Dicksee and
Sir Frank Short in 1927. Lamb states that it is most undesirable that any further allusion to the work should appear in the press, especially as there was a great danger that Mr Sickert might make a stir about the fate of the picture.
