Sir,
I shall esteem it a favor by
your allowing the accompanying
Translation of Cennino Cennini's
Treatise of Painting to be placed
in the Library of the Royal
Academy. Had I been aware of
tht such an institution existed
I should have presented a
copy before I went to Paris,
where I passed nearly three
months this winter for purposes
connected with the arts.
There are a few errors and
corrections which ought to

have been printed with the
work itself, but which my
publisher did not think of
sufficient importance to
print & bind up with the
work, though contrary to my
opinion. I have attached a
written sheet of errata.
I should feel much obliged
if you would inform me of
any errors or mistranslations
you may discern, as I am
desirous of making the
Translation as perfect as
possible.
