She introduces Miss Mackintosh, a young lady of gentility and fashion. She now has a place to herself with a small garden which she will fill with flowers, imagining herself in China. She congratulates him on the Peace and hopes the new ministers will change his affairs. Her income has been hurt, but not so much that she is not comfortable.
