Content Description
The letter is headed "Dictated". Gilbert mentions the problems he has had in getting on with his work. He had failed to cast his original model [of the salt cellar], so commenced a new wax model, which he hopes will be worthy of the commssion. He feels that he has much improved on the original model. The new version is almost complete.
