Gibson wishes to bequeath his models and the sum of £32,000 to the Royal Academy, after the example of
Canova and
Thorvaldsen. He suggests that the collection might appeal to the public, if it were opened to them during the exhibition. Gibson feels that his work would be of use to young sculptors, as an illustration of his style, and that of Canova and Thorwaldsen. The letter also contains remarks by Gibson on the plan of two rooms to contain his models.
