Gibson informs his brother that he had been very well received during a three month stay in London, and had drunk very little wine, mixing it with water. Afterwards he been treated to several grand dinners in his honour in Liverpool. Gibson then mentions various commissions, including the statue of
[George] Stephenson and monument to the wife of
Edward Ellice. He had also received an intimation that
the Queen wanted to have a statue by him. He then mentions visits to Wales, Glasgow and Chatsworth House.
The letter also bears a note to Benjamin Gibson from
P[enry] Williams, containing a message for his servant in Rome.
