Historical Background
Gibson made a coloured statue in marble of 'Hebe' for
John Howard Galton of Hadzor, Worcestershire in 1862. A further, tinted, version was made in 1864 (RA). [DNB.]
Content Description
Relating to a proposal by Gibson that he refund his £200 advance payment for the statue of 'Hebe'. The writer was very desirous that the work should eventually belong to the nation.
