Gerald Kelly, 117 Gloucester Place, Portman Square, W. 1., to Mrs Irene Walker
Kelly replies to a letter from Mrs Walker. He could not offer to teach her to paint, but gives a number of pieces of advice about colour, technique, and the use of white and tone ground. He was most interested by the section in Mrs Walker's letter in which she said she was unmoved at seeing Kelly's copy of a work by
Monet. Kelly describes the circumstances in which he painted the work, describing it as a "labour of love."
The letter is accompanied by one from (Mrs) Irene Walker, 115 Overstone Rd., Harpenden, Herts., AL5 5PL, to
Sir Hugh [Casson], dated 16 February 1984, presenting the item to the Royal Academy.
