Content Description
The year has taken its toll on him, although he wants to out-live the dictators. The politicans have kept their heads in the sand. He thinks Christianity hasn't helped the democracies. He enjoyed Clausen's heads in the
National Gallery and regrets missing Clausen's best work by avoiding the
Royal Academy shows for years only resuming after the election of
John and
Orpen. He discusses painting technique with square brushes before falling into maudlin brooding.
