He has just received from Perugia a sample of the gum damar. A few drops, together with the yolk of an egg create the distemper used by
Mariani[?]. He provides a little further information on Mariani, including that his forgeries of sixteenth century "bric-a-brac" have been bought by "very crafty persons". Asks if he knows of a painting manual by a Scott Taylor, which he has just received.
