Content Description
He wants to know if his current favourite vehicle is safe. He uses a single primed canvas. He underpaints with Bell's medium and turps from small bottles, as per Church's advice. This dries even in winter. With this mixture he can use pigments that otherwise he would not attempt. Elaborates further on his use of Bell's and saliva. He proposes to retouch with Roberson's medium at the Academy. Asks for reassurance that the method is safe.
