Content Description
Regarding his confusion as to Church's use of term "semi-permanent" for pigments in his work. He also questions Church's assertions regarding burnt madder. He has set aside all resins when working, although some gum is needed to cover the surface when the painting is finished. Asks whether a painting completed solely with Bell's medium and turpentine, and, worked to the point of sending in to the Academy, may be safely varnished once hung in the galleries.
