Content Description
Preston writes after reading Gibson's memoirs. She advises him to omit an extract from the letter of Mrs Robinson, the woman who had inspired his early life. She feared the extract might expose him to the harshness of public criticism. Preston urges him to continue with his memoirs, and offers herself as his secretary. She hopes not to go down to posterity as the lady who had written Gibson angry letters. She concludes by inviting him to stay with her, confessing that she was "very, very lonely."
