Content Description
Relating his encounter with
Lord George [Gordon] and his "little friend" Kitty Levy in Newgate gaol. Gordon ordered Levy to fetch vinegar as protection against the gaol distemper, causing Humphry to fret about symptoms for a month afterwards. He then describes how Levy's visit to him looking for wages gave him the opportunity to draw her. The print was too large and never completed. Levy avowed that Gordon never uttered an improper word to her and she assumed him a devout Jew. She has since married a Jew of good character and moved to the country.
