Content Description
He is surprised and disappointed at McConnel's letter, and thinks he knows the authority of McConnel's belief that the picture sold at Foster's was a sketch. He suspects it was [Henry] Wallis, who bid against him at the sale "up to the last shilling", this sort of thing is frequent between dealers. He believes utterly in Mr. Farrer's judgement and thinks it impossible that he could take the picture back.
