A committee consisting of Richard Westmacott, Daniel Maclise and George Richmond was appointed by Council in March 1868, tasked with looking into payments made to Academicians holding office. The committee's remit was extended to cover pensions in July 1868. This group reported to Council in November 1868, after which it's recommendations were passed by General Assembly. The group was reconstituted as a Finance Committee on the 18th December 1868, consisting the Treasurer, Westmacott and Richard Redgrave.
