The Academy in Rome is deeply grateful to Lawrence for his assistance; he asks that Lawrence approach
Mr. Westmacott and
Mr. Flaxman to ask them to also become British Trustees of the Academy; he has been acting as Secretary for the Academy, without really wanting to; he raises the spectre of
Royal Academy disapproval of the Rome Academy and seeks to minimise any damage to his prospects of becoming an Academician;
Mr. Gott will write to Lawrence regarding the casts,
Pietro Camuccini has recommended a formatore; Gott has completed a figure of Musidora;
Mr. Kirkup has just recovered from an illness; he is to send a half length portrait to England in the spring, his eyes prevent him from working outside; he will send Lawrence a sketch of St. Peters from the Villa Barberini, completed by a pupil of his using a camera lucida; he sends works to the
British Institution this year, but cannot send to the
Academy in time.
