Content Description
He hopes Humphry's studies in Italy will guarantee his future; he discusses their marriage prospects, which are slim without a fortune, but congratulates Humphry's brother on his approaching happiness; he cannot yet afford to pay Humphry's loan; business is now his sole object in advancing himself and he has the confidence of Mr. Campion, who has amassed a great fortune.
Mr. Offley has almost amassed a great fortune and lives in London surrounded by his family and his art, he recommends that Humphry visit; sends his regards to Mr. Patch, his wife, reminds Humphry that Campion married Mr. Patch's sister.
His life in Porto is dull, he hopes they can correspond often; the Portuguese are behind the world in science and art.
