The book appears to have found itself on the market at some point after Beechey's death. The inside front cover is marked "Sir William Beechey's account book, 42/-". The point at which it entered the possession of the Royal Academy is currently unknown.

The volume was first catalogued by Jean Agnew for the H.M.C. in 1972. The reference used in this finding has been retained.
Bibliography
A transcription appears in Sir William Beechey, R.A., W. Roberts, London (1907), pp.220-259. From this it appears that another volume at the Royal Academy should cover the period 1807-13, but this was not in evidence when the volume was first catalogued by archivists in 1972.
