The letter alludes to a work which it was supposed suggested to
[David] Wilkie the principal figure in 'The Blind Fiddler'. Haydon says that he had recently finished his 'Uriel and Satan', and he hopes for a visit from Higginson and his wife. He mentions his admiration for
Lord Nelson, and concludes by expressing the satisfaction he will feel if his son, [
Frederick Wordsworth Haydon] distinguishes himself by his conduct [in the Royal Navy].
